How do you justify that opposites attract? That’s was one big question Tita Vivian threw at me while I was eating my snacks just this afternoon? Where the hell did that come from?!

And the physics lover that I am without any thinking answered her,

“Simple lang naman yan ta! Pano mu maeexplain yung dalawang north poles ng magnet na hindi nagdidikit at yung north pole at south pole sa magnet na ni hindi mu nga paglapitin, natural na sa isa’t isa’y lumalapit?”

Well, like poles repel and opposites poles attract according to a very old physics concept. But then Tita Vivian looked at me with wonder.

Law of attraction according to her is liking the same thing, having the same interest, and loving that interest with a person. According to her, we can simply justify the saying “opposites attract”, by the logic of a man and a woman, though very different in a lot of ways (physically, and emotionally), but sharing something in common thus a relationship exists (ang lalim).

And to add to that, my friend Aiza also shared that these differences brought by the fact that they are opposites can be settled by trying to meet halfway. Wow naman! Our discussion during that snack time really was deep.

Hearing this, me and Mards share the same thought.

“Eh kung ganyan yung explanation nyo, papano naman yung same sex people sharing that same interest given that they are the same (emotionally and physically).

Isn’t that refuting the concept?

I didn’t really notice how our discussion ended. But then I think Mards and I also have a point.

In the meantime, I’ll try to go over certain readings and docs to find out more about this philosophical query. After all, Barack Obama now pleaded in favor with same sex marriage, right?.. (Sobrang layo nito sa point actually. Tinatry ko lang isingit.haha)
